School Play Disaster-Diary #5

Dear diary,

HA! I was just reminded about our school play last month but don’t think I ever told you about it!  What. A. Disaster.

Before school let out last month, Brynn, Rachel and I had a play called Miracle in Bethlehem.  My whole family (yes, all 8) decided to go.  I did not think it was a good idea but Jayla and Lea paid mom $20 not to babysit the littles, so our whole family went to watch us. And here’s how well it went…

First, mom had to leave 15 minutes into the play because Emma started crying.  Then, right when I was going to say, “A baby will be born right here in Bethlehem”, Mom had to leave for Ella.  THAT WAS MY BIG LINE! SHE MISSED IT!

Let’s see, Jayla left at some point to take Maya to the bathroom and later on, Lea took Vivi and Maya to get a drink of water. (Insert eye roll here because it’s not like they were going to die of thirst). AND…that’s all I can think of right now.  It was horrible.

Brynn and I both agreed that NEVER again will our whole family go to one of our plays. Mom only saw about a quarter of it and Jayla and Lea only saw about half.  After the play though, Mom gave each of us a nesting doll because we did so well (or was it guilt?).  In case you don’t know what it is, it’s a doll that when you open it, it has another, smaller doll inside it.  And in that doll is a smaller doll, and so on and so on until it’s teeny tiny.  Mine got so small that the puppy almost ate it.  It’s on my desk now.

I wonder if anyone else in a big family has had a “school play” problem?  Later!
