Book Review on the diary of a wimpy kid series
I like these books because there are very funny! Really, YOU HAVE TO READ THESE BOOKS! Please, read at least just 1 of them, or else you will be lost all of your life and you don’t want that, do you? They are the definition of childhood. Picture this: you are talking with your friends and someone asks, “Remember that part in Diary of a Wimpy Kid?” And everyone is like, “yeah, yeah,” and they laugh and talk about the different books and laugh some more. And you are quiet because you don’t know what they’re talking about. See how much laughter you’ve missed out on?
and if you’re older, it’s not too late!
So, what’s it about?
The main character is a middle schooler named Greg. And I quote from the first book, “First of all, let me get something straight: This is a JOURNAL, not a diary. I know what it says on the cover, but when Mom went out to buy this thing I SPECIFICALLY told her to get one that didn’t say “diary” on it.”
And, “If she thinks I’m going to write down my “feelings” in here or whatever, she’s crazy. So just don’t expect me to be all “Dear Diary” this and “Dear Diary” that. Those first few sentences of the book, kinda sum it up. Greg is not going sugarcoat anything! He tells things like it is.
These books are his perspective on being a middle schooler. And Greg is not a big fan of middle school, “Let me just say for the record that I think middle school is the dumbest idea ever invented. You got kids like me who haven’t hit their growth spurt yet mixed in with these gorillas who need to shave twice a day.” HAHAHAHA!
By now, I’m sure you’ve got the feeling of how the series goes. It’s real, it’s funny, it’s really funny.
just so you know…
The language may not be for everyone. He calls his fellow middle schoolers “morons” and “jerks”, but it’s in a light, funny way. I never got the feeling that he was super angry or mean. The author uses it in a way that doesn’t make you feel bad or anything, it’s used in a hilarious way. At any rate, we thought we should tell you, so you’re not shocked.
My favorite books of the series (kinley)
My favorites were The Meltdown and The Deep End. The Deep End is the newest book. The Meltdown is the 2nd newest. But you have to read the 1st one first. I recommend going in order, that way you’ll get all the introductions and descriptions of the other characters.
my favorite books of the series (brecken)
My favorite books in this series are Wrecking Ball and Old School. I related to them more and that’s always a neat thing in a book.
Ever heard of a cheese touch? If you’re a kid, probably. Well, it came from this series! In 20 years, if someone were to ask me, “Name 1 thing from your childhood that was popular and everyone knew about?” The cheese touch and the Diary of a Wimpy Kid would be it. You just have to read at least 1 of them because if you don’t you will practically fail as a kid.
In my school, I think it was 4th grade, every time the whole class went to the library, it was a madhouse to get a book from this series. You just have to read them! Okay, that’s all I’m going to say about that!
We hope enjoyed this Book Review on the Diary of a Wimpy Kid Series!
